”Learning is finding out what you already know.” — Richard Bach
No one can teach you Tai Chi. Arguably no one can teach you anything, but this is especially true with Tai Chi.
We are excited to help guide you along the path and talk about the clues that helped us make progress and breakthroughs in understanding. But we can’t walk the path for you.
It is your own investigation into how the principles of Tai Chi work with your body and your unique set of mental models, habits, and struggles that will lead you to understanding.
This has always been true, but it is even more important in this time of social distancing where it’s difficult for a teacher to see what you’re doing, or for you to feel a demonstration in person.
As students, we need to cultivate a spirit of curiosity and explore how the Taiji essential principles are at work in our own bodies. Then we can meet with our fellow travelers to ask questions and discuss what we’ve discovered, what we’ve struggled with, and help each other find new avenues of investigation.
”Questions are places in your mind where answers fit. If you haven’t asked the question, the answer has nowhere to go.” — Clayton Christensen
Ultimately, it’s a journey of self cultivation and discovery. I encourage you to keep up your practice even though we can’t meet in person. The real answers, as always, come from within.
